Brokenness (Reflections of Grief,2 of 6)
We live in a broken world. Often when we (the privileged) think of the poor, we might think of them as this stump. Small compared to the rest of the trees. Living among them but in their shadow. Often we try to cover up that there are poor among us.
But look closer. Perhaps we are the stump. Perhaps we have let the materialism and greed of this world cast a shadow over us. Perhaps we have been cut down and not allowed to thrive. Perhaps we are not as big or as powerful as we think. Perhaps we have covered up our sin.
We are broken. All of us. And in our brokenness we must grieve.
